Once you realize that fat loss is hard work, and not just as easy as eating some celery, drinking really cold water, and slamming down some "metabolism boosters", that's when you'll really start to get results.

When you accept sticking to your nutrition program will take effort, only then will you start planning and preparing your nutrition to meet your fat loss goals.

First, they've got their nutrition plans down perfectly. And when I say planned out, I don't just mean they have a meal plan torn out of a magazine. Instead, they have their shopping lists prepared. For a long time now I've referred to Saturdays as FATTERDAYS simply because of how much we tend to eat. Here's a new look at weekend eating!

It's a dark, cold Friday night and you've had a tough week at work. You're willpower on your 'healthy eating' regime is at mega low.

You're tired, stressed and you can't be bothered to cook. All you want to do is fall off the wagon and order a Chinese.

I could go on all day about strategies to avoid this and stay on track but that's for a different article.

Today though, I want to cover a new theory that I recently came up with, one that I tested a few weeks ago and has worked INCREDIBLY well.

Let's got back to the Friday night thing..You're still contemplating whether to order the Chinese then that old chestnut of a statement kicks in and its one of my favourites "Oh I'll start again on MONDAY"

If I had a pound for every time I've heard this I'd be typing this from my outdoor pool. Geez, I've even said it myself!

How about this for something wacky?

Drum roll please..

"I'll start on SATURDAY"

WOW! As simple as this may sound I think it could be a breakthrough for so many of us! You see, it's been proven that most people consume the same amount of calories over the weekends 2 DAYS than they do over the previous 5 weekdays!

Amazing huh? I know in the past that's certainly been the case for me. It's well known to most people that through the week it's actually pretty easy to stay on track. You prepare meals in advance, you have food in the fridge and in the cupboards, you drink you're required water intake at your desk and you get to the gym/classes either before or after work.

Then Friday comes and it's a whole new ball game right?

The invites to parties and meals out start coming, the text asking if you fancy a drink, you're out shopping and can't find anything remotely healthy and suddenly 'I'll start on Monday' is being repeated like episodes of friends!

So how about that Saturday start?

Let's look at it this way, the weekend thing is a vicious circle. So, on average you probably get 5 days of clean, lean eating in before that tough Friday, Saturday and Sunday test of determination.

Starting on Saturday gives you 7 days of clean eating, gives you a chance on a Saturday morning to prepare meals for the whole weekend and make you a dab hand in the kitchen cooking up something delicious and healthy for the Saturday night dinner party- I promise you, most of your friends and family will be thanking you for this!

However THE main thing to take from the 'Start Saturday' theory is that once you've ate very well one weekend, the next one is a whole lot easier, you'll feel great after 7 days, you'll have dropped much more fat come the first Friday and you're also developing a new habit.

So, put my FATTERDAY theory to bed and make Saturday the new Monday! Without the Blues!

Water is one of the most important elements in fat loss. If you are not getting a proper balance of water, then you can not possibly get the best fat loss results. If you are 40 lbs overweight and do not workout really, and your diet is sketchy, are you going to notice a huge physical appearance difference...no probably not. However, it will provide you with the building blocks you need to start turning your body into a more efficient fat burning machine. Now, if you are slightly over your desired body fat and you have been skimping on the water, lifting weights, doing cardio, and eating pretty clean, are you going to see and feel a difference? YES a Big Difference.

The liver is our fat traffic cross guard, if you will. It helps break down the fat and sort where the body needs it for energy. So what happens if there is a traffic jam? The cross guard gets flustered, and tells people to park on the side until he get things sorted out and moving again. Those parked cars in this (again I know weird analogy) is our fat.

Why did the traffic jam occur? Because the traffic lights down the street, the kidney, went haywire and stop functioning right. Water is the magic that gets the kidney happy and pumping. There is a reason why everyone automatically thinks pee should be bright yellow, because most of the population is partially dehydrated. When you first start out drinking a lot of water your urine color will be mostly clear. Remember that your body is adjusting and flushing out toxins. However the goal is to have very light off yellow, almost clear, urine. This is a sign of good hydration. The more yellow, the more dehydrated.

How much water is enough? Keep it simple. For a woman who exercises, a gallon a day. For a man who exercises, 1.5 to 2 gallons a day. If you find after a few weeks you are still very clear and using the bathroom a lot, lower you intake some. If it's still really yellow increase your intake some. For marathon runners and trainers make sure, if you are taking in more than 3 gallons of water a day, to really add sodium to your intake to regulate your body. This is so you do not put your body in a Hyperdemia state.


o Do not drink a little water and then a huge amount at one time to make up for your daily needs. It's just like eating 5-6 meals a day. Get your water broken up through out the day.

o If you have been dehydrated, expect some bloating and water weight to occur the first week or so. It's just the same as if you stopped eating food after being in starvation mode; your body is going to hold on to it. So if bloating occurs, it's natural and will pass in a short time.

o Cold/warm which one? Some say cooler water is absorbed quicker and helps burn fat faster. Some say warm is easier to drink and delays cramping. Overall it does not really matter too much. Just find a way to get it down.
